Ronald L. Cottrell - Founder, Owner, Chief Instructor
Ronaldl L. Cottrell is the founder and owner of Texas Professional Firearms Training. Mr. Cottrell's experience started early growing up as an avid hunter, expert shooter, and president of the local chapter of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Cottrell continued his experience as a Unitled States Army Military Police Officer, where he achieved Distinguished Expert Marksman. He continued as a San Antonio Police Officer, where he graduated number one in his Police Academy Class. After spending seventeen years as the San Antonio Park Police Training Academy Commander, he is currently the Park Police Administative Sergeant and Chief Firearms Instructor for the San Antonio Park Police Training Academy.
Sergeant Cottrell currently holds a Master Peace Officer's License and a Police Instructor's License from the Texas commision on Law Enforcement on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). Sergeant Cottrell is an FBI trained, TCLEOSE licensed Firearms Instructor. Sergeant Cottrell also holds several NRA certifications as an NRA Pistol Instructor, Home Firearms Safety Instructor, and an NRA Range Safety Officer's Certification.
"I started this company to share my many years of firearms experience, and my expertise in training Police Officers to shoot, with the public. I want to share my passion for shooting with friends, family, and the community. My hope is to provide high-quality training in firearms use and safety from Expert Police Firearms Instructors. I hope to show our students how much fun shooting can be, and maybe some with a new sense of safety and security for themselves, their homes, and their families".

Chief Instructor Sergeant Edward Saucedo

Sergeant Edward Saucedo
“Edward Saucedo” is an expert marksman with more than 25+ years experience in the use of firearms. Sergeant Saucedo is licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) as a Master Peace Officer with over 20 years experience in State and Municipal Law Enforcement at varying levels of Command. Sergeant Saucedo was previously a staff Firearms Instructor for the San Antonio Park Police Training Academy and the Senior Firearms Instructor for the Office of the Texas Inspector General in Austin. He is currently an Adjunct Firearms Instructor at the Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy, and the Chief Firearms Instructor for the San Antonio City Marshall's Office. Sergeant Saucedo is an NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor, TCLEOSE Advanced Police Instructor and Firearms Instructor. Additionally, Sergeant Saucedo is licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Combined (Classroom and Firearms) Instructor for Private Security Officers in Texas. Sergeant Edward Saucedo is an active member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI).
Senior Instructor Sergeant Chris Mittelmaier

Sergeant Chris Mittelmaier
"Chris
Mittelmaier” is the newest Firearms Instructor for Texas
Professional Firearms Training. Chris
has over twenty years’ experience as a Law Enforcement Officer and Law
Enforcement Supervisor. Chris is currently
a Sergeant for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, San Antonio
Office. His experience includes five
years with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and eight years with the San
Antonio Park Police Department. Sergeant
Mittelmaier is a licensed TCOLE Police Instructor and has experience as an
underwater recovery team investigator, Special Emergency Response Team Member, a
Certified Fraud Examiner and much more.
As if that wasn’t enough, Sergeant Mittelmaier is also a Senior Master
Sergeant with the Texas Air National Guard with over twenty years’ experience. He currently serves as the Security Forces Operations Superintendent for a local unit. Chris
is an expert with firearms both as a Law Enforcement Officer and Instructor, as
well as an experienced Military marksman.
Assistant Instructor - Rebecca Shearn

"Rebecca Shearn" is our assistant Firearms Instructor. Becca started by attending our NRA Basic course, she went on to take our TX CHL Course and our Tactical Shooting series. During the classes she demonstrated a natural shooting ability and strong desire to move beyond a student. On her own initiative she attended NRA advanced instructor courses. She now holds an NRA Instructor's Certification in Basic Pistol, Home Firearms Safety, Refuse to Be A Victim, and is an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. Becca assists us with basic instruction and range safety. As a Firearms Instructor and a woman, Becca is uniquely qualified to assist the female students in our classes. She continues to train and learn from our expert firearms instructor staff.
